John
14:6 Jesus
said to
him, "I
am the
way and
the truth,
and the
life. No
one comes
to the
Father
except
through
me."
Acts
4:12 "And
there is
salvation
in no one
else, for
there is
no other
name under
heaven
given among
men by
which we
must be
saved."
2. In
the Authority
of Scripture.
We
believe that
Holy Scripture
is the supreme
authority in
the Church
and in our
lives, that
it is the Word
of God written
and contains
all things
necessary to
Salvation.
We
are to
submit
our hearts,
minds and
wills to
the authority
of Scripture.
2 Timothy
3:16-17 All
Scripture
is breathed
out by God
and profitable
for teaching,
for reproof,
for Correction
and for training
in righteousness,
that the
man of God
may be competent,
equipped
for every
good work.
3. In
sharing with
others the
Good News of
Jesus Christ.
We
seek to train
our members
in how to effectively
share their
faith with
others through
lifestyle,
words, and
actions.
We
believe
we should
all be
prepared
to share
with
others
the hope
that
we have
in Christ (Acts
8:29-39;
1 Peter
3:15-16).
We
believe
that
evangelism
consists
not only
in our
words
but in
our actions (Matthew
5-6;
1 Peter
2:11-12).
Every
Christian
is called
to learn
and grow
in the
faith
not only
for their
own benefit,
but also
to draw
others
to Christ (Matthew
28:18-20;
John
15:8).
We
believe
that
our efforts
in evangelism
are ordained
by God
to accompany
His calling
and power
that
brings
people
to faith
and knowledge
of Christ
our Savior (Romans
10:14-15;
John
17:20-23;
John
1:12-13;
Matthew
28:18-20;
1 Corinthians
2:1-5;
Colossians
4:3-6).
We
believe
that
evangelism
begins
with
prayer (John
17:20;
Colossians
4:3-6;
2 Thessalonians
3:1;
Matthew
9:35-38;
Luke
10:2-3;
John
15:7-16).
Mark 5:19b "Go
home to your
friends and
tell them how
much the Lord
has done for
you, and how
he has had
mercy on you."
1 Peter
3:15-16 [B]ut
in your hearts
regard Christ
the Lord
as holy,
always being
prepared
to make a
defense to
anyone who
asks you
for a reason
for the hope
that is in
you; yet
do it with
gentleness
and respect,
having a
good conscience,
so that,
when you
are slandered,
those who
revile your
good behavior
in Christ
may be put
to shame.
4. We
are called
to be and to
make Disciples
who follow
Jesus Christ.
We
are to baptize
believers and
their children,
and to train
them in and
equip them
with the skills
and tools necessary
for a lifelong
walk with God.
As
true disciples
we are
to strive
to become
more like
Christ
through
study and
obedience
to God's
word through
prayer,
evangelism,
fellowship,
worship
and Holy
Communion.
Matthew
28:19-20 "Go
therefore
and make
disciples
of all nations,
baptizing
them in the
name of the
Father and
the Son and
of the Holy
Spirit, teaching
them to observe
all that
I have commanded
you. And
behold, I
am with you
always, to
the end of
the age."
5. God
the Father,
Son, and Holy
Spirit is worthy
of Regular
and Joyful
Worship in
Word, Music,
Prayer and
Sacrament.
We
worship God
through hearing
His word in
Scripture and
as proclaimed
in sermon and
teaching.
We
regularly
and joyfully
offer to
God our
praise
in contemporary
and traditional
music,
song, and
in prayer
- both
extemporaneous
and liturgical.
We
partake
in the
mystery
of Holy
Communion,
joining
together
as one
body in
Christ
our Lord.
John 2:23-24 "But
the hour is
coming, and
is now here,
when the true
worshipers
will worship
the Father
in spirit and
truth, for
the Father
is seeking
such people
to worship
him. God is
spirit, and
those who worship
him must worship
in spirit and
truth."
Romans
12:1-2 I
appeal to
you therefore,
brothers,
by the mercies
of God, to
present your
bodies as
a living
sacrifice,
holy and
acceptable
to God, which
is your spiritual
worship.
Do not be
conformed
to this world,
but be transformed
by the renewal
of your mind,
that by testing
you may discern
what is the
will of God,
what is good
and acceptable
and perfect.
6. We
are called
to a life
of Expectant
Prayer.
Prayer
is a normal
part of our
everyday lives
after the example
of Christ and
his Apostles (Luke
6:12, Luke
9:28, Luke
11:1; Acts
14:23).
As Anglicans
we express
our call to
a life of prayer
by praying
as one body
through both
liturgical
and spontaneous
prayer.
It
is in prayerful
dependence
on Christ
that we
find joy
and peace (John
16:22-28;
Philippians
4:4-7).
Our
prayers
are to
be rooted
in humility
and forgiveness (Matthew
6:5-15;
Mark 11:22-25).
We pray
for those
who oppose
us (Romans
12:9-21;
Matthew
5:44-48;
Luke 6:27-28).
We
are to
develop
and strengthen
our relationship
with the
Lord both
as a church
body and
as individual
members
through
both our
corporate
and individual
prayers.
Prayer
is an expression
of our
faith in
God, the
Father,
Son, and
Holy Spirit (Luke:
11:5-13;
John 14:9-14;
1 John
3:21-23;
James 1:5-8,
James 4:2-3;
Mark 11:22-25;
Matthew
21:21-22,
Matthew
18:18-19;
1 Corinthians
14:13-15;
Romans
8:26-27).
Through
prayer
we grow
closer
to God.
Through
our own
prayer
and the
prayer
of others
God gives
us the
strength
to overcome
temptation (Matthew
26:41;
Luke 22:40;
John 5:14-
16).
Prayer
truly after
the example
of Christ
and his
Apostles
is intercessory
prayer (John
17:1-26;
1 John
5:14-16;
2 Corinthians
13:7-9;
Ephesians
1:15-23,
Ephesians
3:14-21;
James 5:13-18).
I Thessalonians
5:16-18 Rejoice
always, pray
without ceasing,
give thanks
in all circumstances;
for this
is the will
of God in
Christ Jesus
to you.
Luke 18:1 And
he told them
a parable to
the effect
that they ought
always to pray
and not lose
heart.
John 16:22-24 So
also you have
sorrow now,
but I will
see you again
and your hearts
will rejoice,
and no one
will take your
joy from you.
In that day
you will ask
nothing of
me. Truly,
truly, I say
to you, whatever
you ask of
the Father
in my name,
he will give
it to you.
Until now you
have asked
nothing in
my name. Ask,
and you will
receive, that
your joy may
be full.
7. In
Building
Godly Relationships,
which are
open, honest
and trusting;
both within
our homes
and within
our church
family.
We
seek the power
of the Holy
Spirit so that
we may live
as Christ lived
and still lives.
Our relationships
are to be built
on the truth
of God's Word
as we build
loving relationships
at home and
within church
which thrive
in an atmosphere
of trust, patience,
accountability
and forgiveness.
We
will build
up and
support
Godly families
and friendships
wherein
we continually
encourage
and challenge
each other
to grow
in faith.
Colossians
3:12-14 Put
on then,
as God's
chosen ones,
holy and
beloved,
compassion,
kindness,
humility,
meekness,
and patience,
bearing with
one another
and, if one
has a complaint
against another,
forgiving
each other;
as the Lord
has forgiven
you so you
all must
forgive.
And above
all these
put on love,
which binds
everything
together
in perfect
harmony.
John 13:34-35 "A
new commandment
I give to you,
that you love
one another:
just as I have
loved you,
you also are
to love one
another. By
this all people
will know that
you are my
disciples,
if you have
love for one
another."
John 15:13-15 Greater
love has no
one than this
that someone
lays down his
life for his
friends. You
are my friends
if you do what
I command you.
No longer do
I call you
servants, for
servant does
not where what
his master
is doing; but
I have called
you friends,
for all that
I have heard
from my Father
I have made
known to you.
